Zakary Cushing
Teacher
Mr. Cushing comes all the way from Homer, Alaska. He has been teaching for eight years and in his spare time is a practicing visual artist. Previous careers include: commercial fishing, assisted living in the mental health field, and bicycle courier. In addition, Mr. Cushing enjoys volunteering for youth theater programs and the Special Olympics.

| Carla Lee North
Teacher
Ms. North has over thirty years of teaching experience and has earned numerous awards for her dedication to teaching foreign languages. In addition, Ms. North is a world traveler to such countries as Germany and Mexico. Since 1976, Ms. North has been associated with the school and in addition to developing the school’s German program she has also served as the high school math teacher. She is currently a member of the following professional organizations: Foreign Language Fair Committee, American Association Teachers of German, Arizona Foreign Language Association, and Partnership Across Languages.

Laureen Johnson
Teacher
Mrs. Johnson comes to Tuller with a wealth of experience in early childhood development. During her 14 years in the childcare profession, she worked not only as a teacher, but served in the administrative sector as Assistant Director and Director. Previous places of employment include Kindercare and La Petite Academy. Mrs. Johnson is currently perusing her teacher certification.

Scott Jones
Teacher
Mr. Jones, along with his two sons and wife come to Tuller with a passion for sharing the joy of singing a joyful song to our students. A Massachusetts native, Mr. Jones has eight years teaching in public, private, and Christian schools. Prior to moving to Tucson, he held a teacher’s certificate in music for grades K-8th in the state of Massachusetts. Mr. Jones is currently pursuing teaching certification for the state of Arizona. In addition, Mr. Jones will be completing his Masters of Music Education from Boston University, College of Fine Arts in spring of 2009.
Mr. Jones has also served as a professional organist/choir director for the past 15 years, and is currently employed as the Children/Youth Choir Director at Christ Church United Methodist in Tucson.

Tonya Jones
Religious Studies Teacher
Mrs. Jones, wife of Mr. Scott Jones brings her passion for youth ministries and religious studies to Tuller School. Previously, Mrs. Jones also served as a Dynisco/Kona Applications Engineer for five years. In addition to her position at Tuller School, Mrs. Jones is also the Youth Minister for Christ Church United Methodist Church in Tucson. Mrs. Jones enjoys cooking, swimming, and board games.

Thomas Lindo
Teacher
Mr. Lindo hails originally from the New Jersey Shore. Before relocating to the Tucson area in the fall of 2007, he had lived most recently in the Carribbean and Europe. He has five years teaching experience in New Jersey's public schools and also spent five years as a professional librarians' assistant in Brooklyn, New York. Mr Lindo also served in the US Navy for four years, based in Norfolk, Virginia.
Mr. Lindo's interests include cultural anthropology, geography, philosophy, and Renaissance history, music, and art, including the plays of Shakespeare. Some of his avocations are reading, fine dining, art appreciation, cinema, theatre, "DX-ing" (short-wave radio listening), and vexillology (the study of flags).

Lisa Rivera
Teachers Aide
Ms. Rivera has several years experience with early childhood development and is currently pursuing higher education opportunities. In addition to her pre-school teaching experience, Ms. Rivera has also served as a reservation specialist while employed for a local travel agency.

Jason Shorbe
Teacher
Mr. Shorbe, a Tucson native comes to Tuller School with a love of bringing Arizona History alive to students. Prior to becoming an educator, Mr. Shorbe spent three years in the US Army. His deployments include Croatia and Bosnia/Herzogovinia on peacekeeping missions. Following his service career, Mr. Shorbe was employed by the Education Department of Arizona Historical Society as an educator traveling the state teaching about Arizona’s history.
Currently, Mr. Shorbe is pursuing Masters in Education from NAU.
Mr. Shorbe is a proud father of two boys and one little girl. In addition to studying history and teaching, Mr. Shorbe loves to spend time with his wife and growing family.

For over 30 years Mrs. Trader has been inspiring students with her music and diverse teaching methods. In addition to teaching, she has been a professional singer and actress for many years. Mrs. Trader is very involved with Sweet Adelines, International and has received the distinguished Sweet Adeline of the Year Award. In addition, she is working towards her director certification for the Sweet Adelines. Prior to coming to the Tuller Family, Mrs. Trader was employed with Kindercare and received the Teacher of the Year Award twice and also Employee of the Year.

Celeste Trimble
Teacher
Ms. Trimble comes to Tuller with great enthusiasm to teach children the joys of reading, artistic expression, and music. She studied "The Book: Its History, Culture, and Creative Form" in college and minored in music. In addition, Ms. Trimble’s other passion includes photography. She has taught photography at the University of Arizona and is a photographer on the weekends for special occasions.

Sister Mary Clare
Teacher
Sister Mary Clare has been a teacher at Tuller School since 1963. She completed her high school education from Tuller High School and her Bachelor of Arts from Tuller College in Tucson, Arizona. In addition to being a teacher, Sister Mary Clare was a dorm mother for the boarding school at the Tuller School campus until it closed.

Sister Theresa Rose
Teacher
Sister Theresa Rose came back home to Tuller School in 2007. She has over 20 years of teaching experience. Specifically, Sister Theresa has teaching credentials from the states of California and Wisconsin. While working for the San Bernardino Probation Department, she received an award for excellence in teacher service, the first award given to anyone outside of probation employment.

Leslie D. Zimmerman
Admissions/Development Director
Mrs. Zimmerman comes to Tuller with public administration and public relations experience. Prior to becoming the development director, she was the Kindergarten and Music Teacher at Tuller school for a semester. Originally from Virginia, Mrs. Zimmerman was employed in state and local governmental agencies for almost ten years. While perusing her degree at Christopher Newport University, she served as assistant to the Virginia State Senate Majority Leader, the Honorable Thomas K. Norment, Jr. Mrs. Zimmerman currently serves on the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus Board of Directors and the Arizona Episcopal Schools Foundation.

Karl Trader
Director of Academics
Mr. Trader received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Arizona and has almost forty years experience in education. His public school experience has included Kindergarten through grade 6, including an assignment as an Elementary Music Specialist. He has taught theatre arts and Folk Dance at the Community College level and was employed as a lecturer for U of A Extension Services. He has completed postgraduate course work in education and performing arts, and has been issued teacher certification in Arizona, Michigan, and Minnesota. Mr. Trader has received specialized training from Spalding Education International, which “places special emphasis on the techniques for teaching the logic and consistency of the English language as well as techniques for teaching spelling with an introduction to writing and comprehension as set forth in the Spalding Method”. Mr. Trader has also been trained in the use of Lee Canter’s Assertive Discipline, certified as an Active Parenting Leader, and has been awarded a certificate as a Teacher of the Tuller Method. In 1996 he was nominated as a candidate for Yuma County Teacher of the Year. Mr. Trader first taught at Tuller School in 1976. Before his most recent return to Tuller School, Mr. Trader was employed with the Healthy Families Program of Arizona where he worked with at risk families in the areas of child development and parenting skills awareness.

Onolee Hopkins
Office Manager
Mrs. Hopkins performs essential administrative tasks that allow our school to run efficiently. She grew up as a "Tuller Angel" when the school was still operating a boarding school along with her sisters Nannette and Rev. Mother Mary Louise (deceased). Prior to becoming Tuller’s office manager, Mrs. Hopkins served as a bank teller and secretary. In addition to her high school diploma from Tuller School, Mrs. Hopkins completed business school courses.

Head of School
Mrs. Akins along with her sisters, Onolee and the deceased Rev. Mother Mary Louise graduated from Tuller School and Tuller College. Following her education, she moved to Alaska and resided there for more than 20 years. Mrs. Akins found her way back to Tuller as the accountant and her position evolved into becoming the school’s director. Her previous careers include: an accountant, small business manager, and small business owner. In addition to her professional achievements, Mrs. Akins is the proud mother of her son, Tuller alumnus Weston. She also enjoys participating in the following community organizations: Aids Foundation, American Diabetes Association, and the Arizona Episcopal Schools Foundation.

Rev. Sister Alicia Torres
Mother Superior
Originally from Wisconsin, Rev. Sister Alicia Torres has been at Tuller School since her senior year in High School. She earned her Masters in Education from the Tuller College in 1974 and has been teaching students for more than 40 years! Her dedication to the Order and school has proven fruitful for the school as it continues to flourish in its 81st year.
